MINERALOGY: Galena is a lead sulfide mineral with the chemical formula PbS and one of the densest naturally occurring minerals on Earth. It crystallizes in the cubic system, forming distinctive cube-shaped or octahedral crystals with a brilliant silver-grey metallic luster and perfect cubic cleavage in three directions. With a Mohs hardness of 2.5, it is relatively soft and quite heavy — its high density is one of its most recognizable properties. Galena is the primary ore of lead and is commonly found in hydrothermal veins alongside quartz, calcite, fluorite, and sphalerite. Its mirror-like surfaces have made it a stone of reflection and self-awareness throughout history.
HOW TO USE: Place Galena at the base of your spine or hold it in both hands during grounding meditations to anchor your energy to the earth. Use it on your altar or workspace as a mirror for self-reflection — sit quietly with it and allow it to reveal patterns or truths you may have been avoiding.
HEALING PROPERTIES: Galena is a powerful grounding stone known for its ability to anchor scattered energy and bring a sense of deep stability and calm. It is said to promote harmony between the physical and spiritual self, support honest self-reflection, and help dissolve patterns of self-limitation or fear. Galena is also believed to enhance focus and perseverance, making it ideal for those working through major life transitions or seeking clarity in times of confusion.
AREAS OF PLACEMENT: Place Galena in your home office, at the center of a crystal grid, or near the entrance of your home to create a grounded and protected energy field. Its reflective surface makes it especially powerful in spaces intended for contemplation, journaling, or deep personal work.
