MINERALOGY: The Argon River in Spain, where it was first discovered in 1788, is what the mineral is named after. It is a calcium based mineral that is a much harder and denser form of calcite. This carbonate, star cluster gemstone usually has a mellow orange or yellow straw color, but can also be found in white, blue and green.
