APACHE TEARS
GRIEF HEALING EMOTIONAL RELEASE
COLOR: Black to Translucent Smoky Brown
CHAKRA: Root & Heart
SCARCITY: Moderately Common
RESPONSIBLY MINED IN: Arizona & Nevada, USA
MINERALOGY: Apache Tears are small, rounded nodules of natural obsidian — a volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly without crystallizing. Their translucent quality distinguishes them from standard obsidian; when held up to light, they glow a deep smoky brown. They form within a host rock called perlite and are freed naturally through weathering over time. They measure a 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale and have a vitreous luster.
HOW TO USE: Hold an Apache Tear in your palm during moments of grief, loss, or emotional heaviness and simply allow yourself to feel. This stone does not rush healing — it honors it. Carry one in your pocket during difficult seasons of life as a quiet, grounding companion. Place it on your Heart chakra during meditation to gently release stored sorrow, or keep one on your nightstand if grief is showing up in your dreams or disrupting your sleep.
HEALING PROPERTIES: Apache Tears carry one of the most tender and compassionate energies in the mineral world. According to Apache legend, these stones were formed from the tears of Apache women who wept for warriors lost in battle — and that story lives in the stone's energy. It is a powerful ally for anyone moving through grief, loss, heartbreak, or emotional trauma, offering the rare gift of a stone that truly holds space. It gently draws out buried pain that has never had permission to be felt, allowing it to move through and release naturally. At the same time, it grounds and protects, so that the process of emotional release never feels overwhelming. Apache Tears remind you that grief is love with nowhere to go — and they help it find its way.
AREAS OF PLACEMENT: Bedroom or personal sanctuary during periods of grief or emotional healing, pocket carry as a daily grounding and heart-protection companion, and meditation space for gentle emotional release and ancestral healing work.
